Admission requirements

Resting on the principles of equality and vertical and horizontal mobility through the education system, the study programme provides continuous education to people who:

 

  • graduated from the undergraduate university study of medical laboratory diagnostics (180 ECTS)
  • graduated from the undergraduate professional study of medical laboratory diagnostics with a teaching load of at least 180 ECTS with the condition of passing additional exams for classes taught at the corresponding university study
  • graduated from a similar undergraduate professional or university study (in the area of biomedicine and health) with the condition of passing additional exams for classes taught at the corresponding university study
  • have an average grade score of at least 3.5.

Candidate selection is carried out in the form of a transparent classification procedure for selecting the best candidates. The procedure for selecting applicants for enrolment is determined in such a way to guarantee the equality of all applicants regardless of race, skin colour, gender, language, religion, political or other beliefs, national or social origin, property, birth, social position, disability, sexual orientation and age.

Competences acquired upon completing the studies

Having earned their degree, the holders of a master’s degree in medical laboratory diagnostics are competent for independent work in medical laboratories in healthcare institutions, as well as in clinical diagnostic laboratories for clinical biochemistry, laboratory haematology, human genetics, medical microbiology, immunology, cytology, histopathology, toxicology, transfusion medicine, medical genetics, nuclear medicine and molecular diagnostics.

 

The knowledge and skills acquired enable masters of medical laboratory diagnostics to actively participate in scientific and research work, as well as to pass on knowledge and skills by working at universities and scientific institutes.

 

Options for further education

Having completed this study, masters in medical laboratory diagnostics can enrol in a postgraduate university study (duration 3 years, 180 ECTS) and/or a postgraduate specialist study (duration one to two years) at higher education institutions in the country and abroad.
