The undergraduate university study is completed after passing all exams, writing the thesis and defending it.

Title: Bachelor (baccalaureus/baccalaurea) of Medical Laboratory Diagnostics

Short title: bacc. med. lab. diag.

 

Admission requirements

Completed four-year high school, passed mandatory segment of the state graduation exam and biology or physics as the elective subject.

 

The applications for enrolment take place simultaneously with the selection of state graduation exam subjects via the NISpVU system, using the https://www.postani-student.hr/ website.

 

The applicants are ranked based upon the score comprising their high school success, the state exam results and the additional achievements.

Competences acquired upon completing the studies

Having earned their degree, the holders of a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory diagnostics are able to work in clinical diagnostic laboratories of health institutions, but also to work at universities, scientific institutes, biotechnological and/or pharmaceutical companies.

 

The employment of graduates after completing the study of medical laboratory diagnostics is regulated by the Law on Health Professions (Official Gazette no. 87/09). The profession of a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Diagnostics can be found on the list of academic titles and academic degrees and their abbreviations (Official Gazette no. 50/15), in the Codebook of the Croatian Health Insurance Fund under code 747, in the Database of acquired titles of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute, in the EU’s Regulated professions database and in the Database of regulated professions in the Republic of Croatia of the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ENIC/NARIC Office).

 

Options for further education

Having completed the Undergraduate university study of Medical Laboratory Diagnostics, a student can continue studying at the Graduate university study of Medical Laboratory Diagnostics and obtain the Master of Science qualification. The minimum average grade a student should have achieved during the undergraduate university study in order to apply for admission to the graduate university study equals 3.5. The conditions for continuing studies in other fields are determined by the respective higher education institutions, holders of those programmes.
